Great News

Just an update on what is new in the House of Booyens......

I am amazed at how great God is and how faithful he is.
My dad went for a check up and was told that he has a brain tumor. We were all very concerned and he went for blood tests as well as a scan which confirmed that there was definitely a tumor.
I received the following email from him:

Hi everyone,
An update on my medicals.

Last week, after seeing my blood tests, my endocrinologist sent me for ultrasound and scans.
These showed an abnormality in the pituitary. When read in conjunction with the blood tests and Thyroid hormones
It was conclusive proof of a tumour.
He sent me for an MRI on the pituitary gland, in his opinion, to decide on the best course of action for it's removal.
The MRI was to give him the precise location and size of the growth.

That's where all of you that have  said prayers for me over the last few trying days coming into it.

I went in to see him today, he showed me where he had made my booking for cranial surgery next week Thursday, but had one huge problem...the MRI showed NO abnormality anywhere in the brain. The new blood tests I underwent on Friday of last week, were NORMAL.
Not just normal range, near perfect within all parameters. Certainly not reflecting a patient that had Thyroid cancer 8 months ago !!!!
He also said that he was at a loss to explain this, it was mystifying. I explained to him that there was nothing mystifying about it, it's a thing called faith.
GOD IS GREAT !!
Thank you all so much, I can feel the love.
Love always.
I know now exactly that 'The will of GOD will never take me anywhere that the grace of GOD will not protect me'. Alleluia.

Miracles do happen and we are so amazed at how great our God is.

I am sure that this testimony will increase your faith just as much as it has increased my faith.
What a mighty God we serve. All honour and glory to him.

Sand Paper

How many people have you met in your life on planet Earth? Couple of thousand?

How many of those people have left a mark on you as a person? Good or bad?

I have a friend named Vernon. He is humble, wise and gentle. Over all I would classify him as successful. He has a wonderful family. A business that puts food on the table. Most importantly, you can see that this success comes from a deep relationship with God.

I was having difficulty with a certain person. They were just getting up my nose. Actually, I wanted to break his nose.
I took this problem to Vernon for some advise. Do you have any idea what he told me? It went like this.
"My boy. God put some people in your path to be your sand paper. They will rub you up the wrong way. They will get under your skin. But do you know what the sand paper is?
"No, uncle Vernon." I said, petrified of the answer he was about to share with me.
"To smooth your rough edges." He told me.

I went away from this confused. I did not need smoothing off. I was fine. It was this other person who had the attitude problem, not me. Whats more, who was this person to change me. They had no right to mingle with my perfection.

A couple of months later found me and this person being good mates. As a matter of fact, one of my sand papers ended up being the m.c. at my wedding.

Makes you think doesn't it.

Catch up

I know it has been ages since I wrote a post up. Sorry.

We have been running around like crazy getting our two new business' going. Amazing the amount of time that has to be given to little thing like licenses and insurance. If it was up to me I would be trading long ago.
Shan is finished her Pastel Payroll course and just needs to write her exam. Then she can start her Payroll business. Happy days.

I really believe that God is positioning us for a new phase in our lives. Freeing us up to be able to do His work as well as make an income. Doors are opening and we are being sucked through them. Radical stuff.

My sister is about to pop and I will have a nephew. I can't wait. I look forward to him catching his first wave and shooting his first snoek.

Unique design

Another Week! Our local newspaper arrives on a Wednesday but these days it feel as though they are being delivered every second day.

On the good side, I feel that God is stretching and growing us as a family. The further I walk as Christian husband, the more I realize that God wants us to be what He has designed us to be.
How often do we meet people and enjoy them for who they are and slowly start trying to change them to what we want them to be. Normally this is done through guilt manipulation (which is witchcraft by the way) tactics.
A car is used on the road, a truck carries huge goods and a tractor ploughs a field. That is what they are designed to do. Why are we always trying to change a perfect design. Or use a certain design for another purpose.
The more I try and compliment who and what Shan is, the proverbial other half, the better things work.

Facebook

It's crazy. This race to see who has more friends. Well after pinching all my friends and digging up some of her old school friends, Shan is kicking my ass.
This is the world of Facebook. My advice, stay away. Actually, I am sure crack is less addictive. All said and done, I am very happy to chat to some people that I have not had contact with for many years.

Our weekend was good. Time spent with friends and each other. Nice. Also pancakes was a hit. I am sure it is the N.G.K. secret plan to make all the charismatic church goers fat and then take over the world. What do you say Pinkie?

Rock on (not on crack though)

Woza weekend!!!

I sit here on this Thursday night, exhausted. Shan is in the lounge and can hardly keep her eyes open.
It has been an incredible week.
We have had Shan's cousins and their other halves over for a braai on Monday night which turned into a wood burning fest on our deck.
Wednesday saw our long lost friend Roy, knocking a our door, smiling from ear to ear and looking well. Supper plans found us at "That Italian Place" for an wonderful chow (as usual). After much chin wagging and catching up, we ended up at Chris and Mich for a movie until some stupid hour, for a school night.

All this after taking full advantage of four days of perfect sea conditions diving with my mate Brett. To be totally honest, I think that is why I am so bushed.

Now it sounds like I am moaning, but I am truly thankful for this blessed life we live. Also the gaining the ability to say "we are having some quiet family time" is probably one of the most valuable lessons I have learnt to date. We all have the right to say "no".
